Whilst driving back from Lincolnshire at the weekend, we stopped off at Spalding Farm Shop in Surfleet.
I loved having a browse around this shop and only wish it was closer to home! It not only stocks fresh, locally produced Lincolnshire products but also crops that are grown on their own farm. The store sells a large variety of goods such as vegetables, meats, cheeses, cakes, flours and oils. Shrubs, flowers and plants are also on sale as well as beautiful baskets and housewares.
The ‘Manna Coffee Shop’ is also on site offering some light bites and cakes along with a wide selection of hot and cold beverages. Unfortunately, we were out of time to sample their wares but we will remember it as a pit stop for the next time we are driving that way.
We made a few purchases including a lovely basket and some bread flour but one thing I really couldn’t resist was the display of ‘Tom’s Cakes’. ‘Tom’s Cakes’ is a local Cambridgeshire business which produces some lovely looking biscuits and cakes. They have a bakery in Somersham but also sell at farmer markets and supply some local shops. I ended up purchasing a packet of chocolate shortbread for the journey. They were the most delicious chocolate shortbread biscuits I have ever tasted – so crumbly with big chocolate chunks inside. Very moorish!
There were a few more biscuits in the packet but inevitably, they did not make it home! If you are in the Cambridgeshire area, I would recommend you give Tom’s Cakes a try and pop into the Spalding Farm Shop for a visit.
